Christmas 2012 - Part 3

I have just a couple more posts on our Christmas for you.  I'm blogging about Christmas morning today. This was our first year to get Jackson gifts, and actually have a real Christmas morning. Last year, he was only a couple of months old and had no idea what was going on. I'm not really sure he got what was going on this year either, but it was fun for him to open a few presents and get a present from Santa. ☺

In Jake's family, his mom always got each of her boys one big gift that she left unwrapped. This was their "Santa" gift. The rest of the gifts she bought them would be wrapped and they would be from her, but there was always one gift from Santa, even after they stopped believing. ☺

So we decided to carry on that tradition with Jackson.

Jackson's Santa gift was a Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Loops 'n Swoops Amusement Park Play Set.

After he played with that for a while, we showed him he had other gifts to unwrap.

And of course, he had to check out an ornament on the tree. 

So that was our fun little Christmas morning with Jackson. The first of many to come!

Super Bowl Recipe Link-Up

I'm taking a break from Christmas pictures today, to share a link up with you all.

Jake and I have a Super Bowl Party every year and a bunch of friends and family come over for the big game. Everyone brings a dish or dessert and we all have a great time together.

So to get us all in the "game day" spirit, I thought it would be fun if we all shared our favorite "game day" dish or dessert. I thought it would be a great way to get some ideas for the upcoming Super Bowl next month.

Just blog about your favorite Super Bowl recipe and then link back here when you're done. I'll leave the link party up til the end of this week.

Here's the recipe I'm sharing today:

Sweet Bacon Crackers:

Ingredients Needed:

1 (16 ounce) package of buttery round crackers
1 pound sliced bacon, cut into thirds
1 pound brown sugar

*Original recipe makes 30 servings*

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
2. Arrange the crackers in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Top each cracker with 1/3 slice bacon, and sprinkle desired amount of brown sugar over all.
3. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until browned and crisp. Serve warm.

Christmas 2012 - Part 2

Our second Christmas celebration was at my Parents' house on Christmas Eve. Every year, on Christmas Eve, we get together with my Mom's side of the family. Her Dad, brothers and her brother's families all came for dinner and presents. Here are a few pictures from that evening. 

(You'll notice in these pictures that Jackson has a boo boo on the bridge of his nose. He got that at my MIL's house the Sat. before Christmas when he fell and hit it on the edge of a trash can. Poor baby cried pretty hard with that one and it broke my heart. But its all better now.)

Later that evening, we went to church for the Christmas Eve Candle Light Service, which always puts me in the mood for Christmas and the true reason for the season.
