Avery Says... {Installment #2}

1. While in her rocking chair one day she started singing "Rock a bye bay bay!"

2. Our dog Hunter chewed up yet another one of Avery's binkies, so my mom showed it to Avery and Avery said "Humpfer, bad dog!"

3. While running around the patio outside she says... "can't catch me" which she has obviously heard from her brother. Ha!

4.While reading a book before bed one night, there was a page with a man, a little boy and a little girl on it. She pointed at the man and said "daddy", then she pointed at the little boy and said "brubder (aka brother)" and then she pointed at the little girl and said "princess". Now every little girl in her books are princesses and every little boy in her books are brothers. Ha!

5. Everything she points out now is either pink or blue. She will argue with you about the color no matter what color it actually is. I do think she's starting to get the hang of it though because at dinner the other night, she pointed at an Easter Egg on the table and said "yellow" and it was really yellow!! We were so excited for her!

6. While she was coloring one day, she looked up at me and said, "I DID IT"!! She was so proud of her coloring. Ha. :-)

7. As she was sitting on my lap one day something hurt me (I don't remember what it was) and I said "ouch" and she looked at me and said, "Mommy, okay?". What a sweetie she can be!

8. Anytime she asks for anything she always says "Please" and she most of the time says "Thanks" or "Thank you". She's becoming so polite. :-)

9. She makes it so hard to discipline because it's like she knows just what to say or do to make it impossible to be mad at her. One day she was putting a dishwasher cleaning packet in the dishwasher, I turned my head for 5 seconds and when I looked back she had broke it and the orange cleaner had gone all over. I said "Avery"!!! She looked up at me and with the sweetest looking face said, "Sorry Mommy" and smiled! Ugh. She's got us wrapped around her little finger!

10. She hugs and kisses anything with one of her favorite characters on it. Like if I get her Sophia jammies out to put on her at night, she says "see" so she can look at her shirt before I put it on her and then she'll proceed to squeeze the shirt and kiss it multiple times before letting me put it on her. My mom said the other day she found a picture of me and she was squeezing the picture and kissing it. :-) She's a momma's girl for sure.

11. Last night we were trying to get her to eat her carrots and after several failed attempts she finally looked at us and said very sternly, "no, don't like it". She normally loves carrots, but would not eat them last night! Such a stubborn girl she is.

Easter 2016

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I know we sure did.

Saturday afternoon, we celebrated Easter with Jake's side of the family at his Mom's house. We ate a wonderful ham dinner and then went to the park for an Easter Egg Hunt and to play on the playground. Jake's mom had also bought some kites, hoola hoops, bubbles and side-walk-chalk to play with. The weather was really pretty so it turned out to be a really fun day!

Then Sunday morning we woke up and the kids found their Easter Baskets from the Easter Bunny.

This picture of Avery just cracks me up!!

Jackson cracks me up in this picture because he always says "cheese" for pictures and holds the cheeeeeeessssseeee out for so long that he ends up not really smiling but just saying cheese. Ha! You can tell he's saying cheese here, LOL.

After baskets, we got ready in our new Easter outfits and took a few pictures outside before church.

After a few quick pictures, we headed to church for a wonderful service celebrating the true meaning of Easter... Jesus Arose and is alive today!!

After church we had our annual Easter Egg Hunt, followed by a few quick family pictures (as we do every year.)

This is my parents and my sister and I with our families.

My parents with the grand-kids.

My sister with her family.

And my favorite... this adorable picture of mine and my sister's kids!! I think this will be a framer for sure.

After a few pictures, we went by the cemetery to visit my Grammy's grave and then we headed to our house for lunch with my family and some fun games with the kiddos. My mom made a yummy roast and we all made a few sides to go with it. Plus we had tons of yummy dessert.  It was raining by the time we got to our house (which we new it would be according to the forecast) so we had a little Easter Egg scavenger hunt for the kids inside, followed by a fun little craft.

While the three older boys did the scavenger hunt and made their little craft, Avery didn't want to do it and Emerson is still too small. So I snapped a couple pictures of what they were doing in the mean time. Avery mostly ate candy and wore her sun-glasses upside-down a majority of the time and Emerson took a little nap. :-)

We were all in bed by 8:00 p.m. last night! It was such a fun Easter weekend!

5 on Friday: Easter Edition!

Happy Friday!
Today I'm linking up with Christina, April and Natasha for Five on Friday!

We are gearing up for Easter on Sunday! The kids baskets are ready, our Easter outfits are all bought and we're putting the finishing touches on Easter dinner which will be at our house this year!

For Saturday morning (because we won't have time before church on Sunday) I'm going to attempt to make these cute bunny shaped cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon rolls are a regular Saturday morning breakfast around our house so these will be super fun to make with the kids.

I think I'm also going to try and make this cute carrot-shaped cheese ball as an Easter Dinner appetizer. :-) Such a cute idea. I've made a pumpkin shaped cheese ball several times in the past and it's always a big hit, so this will be fun for Easter.

My sister and I are going to attempt to make these with our kids after dinner on Sunday, along with a fun little Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt that we've done in the past. :-)

And finally, I also want to make these cute Cinnamon and Sugar Bunnies for dessert. I don't know how people come up with this stuff, but thank goodness they do and post it on Pinterest! Ha. These look so easy and may be something that the kids can help with too!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Easter Basket Goodies

I was able to get the kids Easter baskets all finished up last week! I ended up buying them both new baskets this year. I happened to be at Dollar General looking at baskets for the house and ran across these for only $5 each! I would really like to have their names embroidered on them sometime before next Easter. Jackson's old basket was just getting too small and Avery didn't really have a true basket, so I snatched them up when I saw them and I'm so glad I did.

Jackson's basket has several goodies in it that I'm really excited for him to get this year. He is a Blaze and the Monster Machines fanatic and we've been collecting all the Blaze cars from the store. The two I got him for his basket are the latest ones I've found from the new 2016 trucks. He's going to flip out when he sees them! I'm also excited about the rain boots I got each of the kids. Jackson's are from Walmart and they are going to come in handy on rainy Spring and Summer days, and I even thought they'd be good in the Winter for snow too! I also got him a Paw Patrol Puzzle and the only Paw Patrol car that he didn't have; Everest! He's also getting a Chocolate Cross, our traditional Reece's Pieces Carrot and the eggs are filled with bite-sized pay-days this year, which are his favorite candy bar!

Avery's basket is filled with some pretty cute things too! As I said in my post yesterday, she is really into reading right now and we read several books every night at bed-time. So I got her her first little Book of Bible stories and the book Guess How Much I Love You! I'm looking forward to some new books to read at bed-time! She is also getting rain boots which I happened to find on clearance at Target! They are adorable! I also got her some "Fia" the First sunglasses and some Minnie Mouse Bubbles. Then, like Jackson, she is getting a Chocolate Cross, our traditional Reece's Pieces Carrot and her eggs are filled with bite-sized pay-days as well.

And here's a close-up of the adorable rain boots!

I'm so excited for Easter this year!!

A Few of Our Favorite Books

Avery is really into books right now. Every night before bed I read several short books to her, we say our bed-time prayer and I put her in her crib. She loves to read books and I'm loving this little night-time routine with her. It's really sweet.

The list above are some of her favorites, and I've thrown in a couple of Jackson's favorites too (Little Blue Truck and his current favorite: We're Going on a Bear Hunt). I'd say right now, Avery's favorite book is Dear Zoo. She loves opening the flaps on each page to find the animal underneath. She loves interactive books with flaps or touch and feel books. There are so many more books I'd like to introduce, so I'm hoping to add to our book collection soon. She's getting her first book of bible stories and Guess How Much I Love You for Easter, so I'm excited to be adding those.

Reading is so much fun for both the kids and I. It's fun to read them some of the books that I can remember reading when I was their age and it's fun to read some new books too. Are there any books that you love reading to your kids or books that your kids just love? I'd love any suggestions you have!
