I'm so excited to share a house update with you today that I recently finished. Our house does not have a grand entryway or anything like that, but I love it nonetheless and have had dreams of updating it ever since we bought our house 2 1/2 years ago.
When we bought our house in September of 2015, the entryway looked like this...
The entryway had a drab yellow paint on the walls (this was actually in the whole house), bad laminate flooring, a very old front door that had been painted numerous times, old closet doors and an old brass light fixture. It needed help to say the least... the whole house did back then.
So after buying the house, but before moving in, with the help of my dad we painted the walls a light gray, replaced the closet doors, the light fixture and we replaced the laminate floor to ceramic tile. Here's what it looked like when we moved-in in February of 2016.
Then once we moved in, we added the floor trim and it stayed like that until we eventually (in April of 2017) added a new front door and side-lights. My dad installed it and did all the trim work around it and it looked so much better, but still needed something inviting on the wall.
I'd been wanting to add a little entry-way table and a cute gallery wall for over it, but just hadn't found the time to do it. So finally I pulled the trigger and decided on this Better Homes and Gardens cube storage shelf for the entryway. It was ordered through wikibuy and I love it because it's cute and also provides much needed storage for us. It was the perfect fit for our small entryway and I love the rustic gray finish as well.
The baskets in the shelf are these from Walmart. I made the "be our guest" sign over a year ago at a "Mommy's Design Farm" party and had always planned to make it part of a gallery for our entryway wall. I'm so happy to have it hanging now. I had the digital watercolor picture of our house made from a local Etsy shop here in St. Louis called Laura Firestone Design. The other prints I made myself and just framed them. The frames are all from Walmart. The "hello" sign is from the Target dollar spot as well as the white pineapple candy dish. The candy dish came yellow with a green stem but I painted it white to better match the rest of the décor. The Pineapple sign on the wall and the "Welcome Home" sign are both from Hobby Lobby.
This is just a photo to show how the entryway flows into the living room/dining room.

And because I always love a good before and after, here is our entryway before and after, side by side so you can see the difference.
