Weekend Rewind

We had a great weekend and I'm sad to see it go. We've had so much rain lately, but the weather this weekend was wonderful. Sunny and in the 60's and 70's. 

Friday night after I got home from work, we went out to dinner with our neighbors across the street. This has become a weekly thing now the last several Fridays. :-) 

Then Saturday the kids were supposed to have soccer and baseball games, but because of so much rain last week, the fields were all too wet and muddy to play. So we decided since the sun came out and it ended up being a nice day, that we'd go to Six Flags for a few hours. Jake and Jackson have been once this year early last month, but Avery and I hadn't been yet this year. It's always so much fun. Jackson was finally tall enough to ride the Batman when he and Jake went last month so I was excited to be able to ride it with him and Avery was finally tall enough to ride the Sky Screamer Swings and she loved them. It was a great day!

Saturday evening I had a photo session, but while I was gone I got this adorable picture from our neighbor. Many of the kids were dressed up in Super Hero costumes, so she said our neighborhood is super safe right now! Ha. I just love our street and sweet neighbors.

Then Sunday, we celebrated Mother's Day at church so I had to get a couple pictures. We'll be at the Cardinals Game on Mother's Day so I new we wouldn't get these pictures if we didn't get them yesterday.  :-)

Now it's back to work and school today! I hope you all had a great weekend as well.

Our Weekend: Soccer, Playdate, The Ballet and A Suprise Party!!

We had such a great weekend!

It started off with Jackson having a soccer game on Friday evening. It was his second game of the season and he just so happened to get his first ever soccer goal during a game!! Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures or videos of it, but needless to say he was SO excited!! All the boys were high-fiving him and he had the biggest smile on his face. He ran right over to his dad on the side-lines! We were all SO excited!! Afterwards, we went and got pizza at MOD.

After dinner, we went by Target to pick up the movie, "The Greatest Showman" and we also let the kids each pick out a small toy. Jake and I had seen the Greatest Showman in the theaters but the kids hadn't seen it. Jackson absolutely loved it and has since watched it multiple times!

Saturday, we had a playdate at Chick-Fil-A for lunch with some friends from school and then Avery and I went to see a ballet that some of our friends were in. It was "The Snow Queen" and it was really good. Avery did great the first half but got a little restless during the second half. She did enjoy it though and did some dancing of her own by her seat. I wanted to take Avery to see it, so she could get a little taste of what she'll be doing in June. Though hers is a recital and not an actual ballet, I still wanted her to see how they got up on stage and danced in front of everyone so she would kind of know what to expect.

Later that night some of our neighbors came over for a little bonfire in our backyard, which is always fun.

Sunday we got up and went to church. Then that evening we had a surprise 60th birthday party planned for my Dad at his favorite place for pizza. I will do a more detailed post later this week, (I forgot my memory stick at home) but it was a GREAT party and he was completely surprised!

It was a great ending to a great weekend!!

Weekend Happenings

We started off the weekend with an 8:30 a.m. basketball game for Jackson.



After the basketball game I took Jackson to get a much-needed hair cut.

Then I dropped Jackson off at my Mother-In-Law's house while I took Avery to see Pinkalicious, the Musical. It was super cute and Avery loved it!!

Then, after the show, I dropped Avery off at my Mother-in-Law's house and both kids spent the night there so that Jake and I could go out for Valentines Day. We went to dinner and a movie. :-) It was a nice night out.

Then Sunday, we got up and got ready for church. We picked up the kids from my Mother-In-Law's house on the way. As always, they had a lot of fun at Grandma's house.

At church Sunday morning, we had a Valentines Day Breakfast and we all decorated a box and brought Valentines for everyone. It was so cute and so much fun! Everyone really got into it.

After church we went home and later that afternoon, the kids and I made some Valentines Day Cookies. We had a lot of fun making them. Both Jackson and Avery love to help bake in the kitchen. It's becoming a favorite activity at our house.

Then last night the kids decided that Avery should sleep in Jackson's room. We've tried this a few times and sometimes it works great and other times it doesn't. Last night was a success. We always end up moving Avery to her bed once they're both asleep because Jackson has to get up earlier in the morning, but it's always sweet to see them sleeping so peacefully.

Our Weekend

It was a great weekend for us! I hope you all had a great weekend too!

I'll start with Friday afternoon. My boss gave us a long lunch so I decided to surprise Jackson and go have lunch with him at school! He was so surprised when I walked up at the playground. He was not expecting to see me at all!

Then that night we had a movie night at Jackson's school, so we went with our neighbors to that. They showed Boss Baby outside on the lawn. It was such a nice night and everyone had a great time.

Jake was out of town all from Thursday morning until around noon on Sunday on a golf trip so it was just the kids and I. We spent Saturday cleaning and running some errands and then I had a photo session that evening. Then that night we went to dinner with my mom and dad and aunt and uncle at San Jose near our house. It was a beautiful night to sit out on the patio.

Sunday we got up and went to church and then we had Jake's family over for a September Birthdays get-to-gether. We have 3 September birthdays so we celebrated them all with BBQ and swimming (for the ones brave enough to get in the freezing cold water). 

I was off work yesterday as well, so while the kids were at school, I went to get some work done on my car and ran another errand before picking Avery up from preschool. Then she and I did some shopping and took Hunter to the vet for a nail trim.

Then we went back home to pick Jackson up at the bus stop. A little while later, I took Avery to her first dance class at Charmette. She did great, but was a little shy doing some of the movements. I'm sure she'll come out of her shell a little more as she gets used to it. It's a large class so it might take some getting used to for her.

After dance class we ate a quick dinner and then we went outside to play with our neighbor friends for a little while before it was time to get ready for bed.

It was another jam packed weekend full of fun!

The Highs and Lows From Our Weekend

Our Valentines Day weekend didn't go quite how I had hoped, but overall it was still pretty good.

Friday morning, before leaving for work, I cleaned out Jackson's backpack from the day before and found this adorable Valentines Day card he had made for Jake and I. It was so sweet.

Then while at work Friday, right before leaving for lunch, these gorgeous flowers were delivered to my office for me. ♥ My sweet Valentine did good. ☺

Friday night, Jake and I celebrated Valentines Day with Dinner and a movie which was really nice.

Saturday, we met Jake's family at Sweetie Pies for lunch. His cousin and her family were visiting from Germany. So we all met up to see her and her newest member of the family. She had a baby boy last April and it was our first time to meet him. :-) After lunch we all went back to my Mother-In-Law's house for the rest of the day to hang out and catch up. It was a very fun day.

Saturday night, Jackson decided to stay the night at Grandma's house so we just planned on picking him up on the way to church the next morning. Well Sunday morning it started snowing and didn't let up for a few hours. We got out on the road to head to pick Jackson up and go to church but it was a slow go. 

While we were driving, Jake's mom called and said Jackson had thrown up twice that morning and though he didn't seem to act sick otherwise, we may not want to take him to church. So the plans changed and we ended up just picking him up and taking him home. Round trip it took us around 2 hours to pick him up and get him back home again. We got stuck behind a set of snow plows on our way home, which didn't help matters. Thankfully, Jackson fell asleep on the way home and we didn't have any throwing up in the car (we were prepared with a big bowl in case he did). The rest of the day included Jackson throwing up many more times and him just basically laying around. My poor buddy. I felt so bad for him. It was definitely the worst case of a stomach bug he's ever had. I did get an opportunity to clean and sanitize the house and get a few more boxes unpacked that day, but thankfully we celebrated Valentines Day on Friday because there would have been no going out that day with the snow and Jackson being sick.

Monday morning, Jackson woke up feeling much better, thank goodness. I was off work for President's Day so my mom and I planned to get up and do a little shopping. Unfortunately, there was a snag in our plan. My mom started a load of laundry before we got going and thankfully noticed, before it got too bad, that the drain in the laundry room was backing up. Ugh. Of course, my dad and Jake were both at work when this happened. So we called my dad and he turned around and came home to save the day. He rented a sewer rooter and was able to get us all fixed up again.

While we waited for the sewer to be fixed, the kids played in their new rooms. They are just loving being in the new house and I love seeing them play together. :-)

So our weekend definitely had some ups and downs, but we are all back to work and school again today and everyone seems to be staying well. Prayers are appreciated that no-one else in the house gets the yucky stomach bug that Jackson had. I really really really don't want it and I'm praying no-one else gets it either.

Weekend Recap

We had a great, long weekend and I'm sad to see Tuesday come so quickly. 

Friday night, Jake and I (much to his dismay) went to the St. Louis County Library for the book signing for John and Sherry Petersik's new book, Lovable Livable Home. They are the couple behind the blog Young House Love. It was so great to meet them in person and they were so sweet! We had a nice dinner afterwards at Dewey's Pizza... yum!

Then Saturday my Mom, Aunt and I threw my sister a little baby shower for her and sweet baby Emerson. It was such a nice shower and she got a lot of cute things for the new baby. Now we're awaiting little Emerson's arrival next month.

Then after my sister's shower, I had a family photo session for my Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law. They recently moved and found a very pretty park close-by their house that they chose to have pictures taken at. It worked out because Jake and the kids played while I took pictures and then we all went back to my Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Laws house for dinner and games. Here's a little sneak peek from their session. :-)

Sunday we went to church and then had food and fellowship in our dining hall after church. After lunch my sister and her kids along with my mom, myself and my kids went and did a little shopping at Babies R Us. My sister had a gift card and I needed to update little miss Avery's Fall wardrobe so it was fun to do a little shopping (even though shopping with 4 kids can be a little stressful). All of their Carters clothes were on sale 50% off!! Can't beat that. Here's a couple of pictures of Avery modeling some of her new clothes later that evening. Isn't she the cutest?! Max decided to photobomb. ;-)

Then Sunday evening I had the pleasure of taking a co-worker of mine's daughter's Senior Portraits! Maggie is such a beautiful girl inside and out and I had such a great time in Forest Park taking her photos!

This Monday was my "every other Monday off" so I got to spend the day with my sweet kiddos doing fun things!! First we went to get Jackson's hair cut at the Hairy Elephant. Then we did a little stop at Target and then had lunch at McDonalds. After lunch we went and played for quite a while at a park we found that is close to our new house... Kirkwood Park.

Later that evening, we met Jake and my parents at the new house to load up some old tree limbs and brush along with some of the debris from the kitchen reno. It was nice to get a good chunk of that out of the way. :-) 

So that was our very busy, but very fun weekend! I hope yours was great as well!

Our Weekend via my iPhone

We had a really fun weekend, which we really needed after all the move and house stress we've had going on lately. It was great to get out and do some fun things as a family.

I'll start with Friday night. After work I picked up the kids from my parent's and headed home. I made the kids a little picnic dinner to eat outside and they thought that was pretty fun. We are in a second floor condo with a balcony, so the kids think the balcony is pretty cool. :-)

Then Saturday, we met Jake's family at Purina Farms for the day. Jake's Aunt (who was in town from Kansas City) and her dog Duke were competing in an agility competition. So we all went out to cheer her and Duke on and then we walked around the farm and did some fun things with the kids. It was a lot of fun.

Jake's other Aunt and Uncle live right near Purina Farms in a big old Farm House. So after spending the day at Purina Farms, we all went back to their house for a BBQ on their beautiful patio. They have a lot of land for the kids to run and play and I think Jackson's favorite part of being there was riding around on their "Tractor" aka Gator. It was so much fun spending time with family.

Sunday, we went to church and had lunch there afterwards. We celebrated an 80th birthday for one of the sweetest women I know. She was my Sunday school teacher growing up. :-) It was a wonderful party celebrating her and fellow-shipping with everyone at church. 

Then after lunch, we dropped Avery off with her cousin Alexis and Grandma. They took her to the pool while Jake and I took Jackson to see his first movie at the movie theater!! We saw Inside Out, which was super cute by the way. He did great and didn't get restless until close to the end. 

It was a great weekend and I'm sad to see it go. Hoping to have a few more fun one's like this before the end of summer.

Friday night, I picked up the kids from Maw Maw and Papa's house (my parents) and headed home. It had rained non-stop all week and the kids had been cooped up in the house. So since there was a little break in the rain Friday evening, I took the kids on a little wagon ride adventure. We went searching for puddles to jump in. :-) We headed up to the park and there happened to be a big puddle up there. So we splashed around in that for a while and then played on the playground for a little while as well.

After jumping in muddy puddles, we headed home to take a bath. After bath-time, I got the kids in their jammies and then we decided to run to Schnucks for a few quick things. Jackson saw that they had tiny shopping carts for kids last time we were there and I promised him he could push one the next time we went. So he was super excited to push his very own tiny shopping cart!

Saturday my sister and brother-in-law moved, so during the morning and early afternoon Jake went over to help with the heavy lifting while the kids and I went to the pool with my mother-in-law and niece. After spending the day in the pool, I left the kids with my MIL and Jake and headed over to my sister's new house to help unpack her kitchen. :-)

Then Sunday we celebrated Father's Day by going to church and then going to my Aunt and Uncle's house for lunch. We had a great time and the kids even got to play in the sprinkler for a little while. After spending time with family there, we headed home for a relaxing evening of doing a whole lot of nothing... something we very rarely ever get to do.

My husband happens to be a KC Royals fan (He was born in KC, but has lived here in the STL a majority of his life, yet he loves the Chiefs and the Royals.) so the kids and I got him this Royals Jersey for Father's Day! :-)

I happened to be off work yesterday and we spent a majority of the day just hanging out at home. It was nice to not have any appointments or errands to run. :-)
