Avery's 5th Month

As of Sunday, September 28th, you are 5 months old. I know I'm really late in posting this month's update, but better late than never, right?

(Read about her first month, second month, third month and fourth month.)

I'm not actually sure what you're weighing these days but at your 4 month appt. you weighed 16 lbs. 4 ozs. so I'm assuming your up to at least 17 lbs. at this point. You are a chunker for sure!

You have learned to roll from your belly to your back (Sept. 8th) and from your back to your belly (Sept. 17th) and you do this all the time now if we lay you down on a blanket on the floor or on your play-mat! You just roll all around and sometimes get mad when you get up against a wall and can't figure out what to do next. LOL.

You are taking a 6-7 ounce bottle every 4 hours throughout the day and then you will wake up between 4-6 a.m. for another bottle during the night. You are still sleeping great, only waking just the one time in the morning for a bottle and then you go right back to sleep and usually sleep until around 8 or 9 a.m. You usually take around 3 naps a day. A short morning nap at around 10 or 11 and then a longer afternoon nap at around 12 or 1 (this nap can be anywhere from 1-2 hours) and then another short nap in the evening. You are usually ready for bed at around 9 p.m.

You are still wearing size 3 diapers and you are now wearing size 6-9 month and 9 month clothes! Such a big girl. :-)

You started eating some baby food this month and you LOVE it. There isn't anything we've tried that you haven't liked yet. You've had carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and peas and you love them all. We can't feed you fast enough.

We got you an exersaucer last month (Sept. 15th) and you love it. You love being able to stand up and see everything going on. You also love being able to watch your brother run around like a crazy person. You sometimes just laugh at him and think he is hilarious. However, you do not like when he gets in your face or holds your hand. You will sometimes get mad and scream at him. Ha.

You love to be the center of attention. In fact, you love it a little too much. I can't leave your sight without you going into a meltdown. You cry even if you think I'm going to leave when in fact, I'm just walking to the other side of the room. I love that you want me close, but this makes it very challenging to get ANYTHING done around the house. Your separation anxiety isn't just separation from me, it's just from anyone that is watching you. If you're with Maw Maw, Papa, Daddy, Grandma or Auntie Ashlee and they leave your sight, you start crying. :-( Poor baby girl, I sure hope you grow out of this soon.

You are quite close to sitting up on your own. You can keep your balance for a few seconds, but we have to be close by because you'll fall right over after a short time. But you love to sit up and I am looking forward to the day when you get this down because I think you will be so much happier once you master this skill.

As for the binkie, you still don't really take it when you are awake. You will not keep it in your mouth. In fact, as soon as we put it in, you are pulling it out! Little Stinker. At night, you really want it and fall asleep so much better with it for naps and night time, but I have to swaddle your hands to keep you from pulling it out! Crazy girl.

You still love bathtime!! You love kicking your feet and playing in your little tub. :-)
Now when I get home from work in the evening, you are so happy to see me. You can't wait for me to hold you and you just look at me and then bury your head into my neck over and over and over again. It is the sweetest thing ever and I look forward to your warm welcome every day. :-) You have also started laying your head on our shoulders if we say Awe Avery. It's just for a very short time that you lay your head down, but it's oh so sweet.

Well I think that just about covers it for your 5 month update. You are such a blessing to this family Avery. We all just adore you and love you so much.

XOXO - Mommy
