Spring Cleaning: Hall Closet

I decided to do a little spring cleaning project over the weekend and clean out our hall closet. We have very few cabinets in our kitchen, so this hall closet has to be both a linen closet and a pantry. 

We also keep a few tools in there and some extra medicine and bathroom toiletries that won't fit in our tiny bathroom. 

So since this closet stores many different types of things, it sometimes becomes messy and so unorganized that it just makes me crazy!

So I'd been wanting to organize it for a few weeks now, but hadn't found the time to do it. Saturday, while Jackson was napping, I made time to organize it and I'm so glad I did! 

 I tried to organize it so that all the bathroom overflow was on one shelf, food was on its own shelf and so on. I had an old paper box lid that had batteries, light-bulbs and all sorts of other junk just thrown in it. It was impossible to find anything without digging through all the junk. So I decided I would get a set of the plastic drawers and organize the batteries and little things in those for easy access. :-) They really make it so much easier to find things. I may have to end up getting another set. I also bought hooks for the inside of the door, to hand the mop and broom on. Unfortunately the mop wouldn't fit right on the hook, but its nice to have the broom hanging inside and out of the way!

I also had all sorts of candle holders and salt and pepper shakers that had been put in there after holidays, that really could just be put with the holiday decor downstairs. So that stuff all went downstairs for later organization. (I try to stay on top of our basement storage organization, but it too gets a little crazy from time to time. Needless to say it could use some re-organization itself.)

Then I threw a trash bag of stuff away, which felt pretty good! :-)

So thats a little bit of spring cleaning that I got done over the weekend. I sure hope there's more to come because our house could really use it! ;-)

I Finally Bit the Bullet...

and set up a domain name for my blog!!! Yay!

When I started this blog back in 2008, it was called Luvin My Labs, because we just had our dogs and no children yet. I didn't really take much time to think about a name and I quickly outgrew it. You can easily change the name of your blog anytime, but you can't change the web address, your just stuck with it as long as you have a blogspot.com address.

I've been wanting to get a domain name for a while, but for whatever reason was hesitant to do so.

Well yesterday, I finally bit the bullet and registered, which was surprisingly easy. The hardest part was finding a name that was available.

So now all traffic from luvinmylabs.blogspot.com will be redirected to my new domain name:

What I'm Loving "Thursday"

I missed What I'm Loving Wednesday, yesterday, so I thought I'd do a What I'm Loving Thursday post today instead. ☺

♥ I'm so excited today! I was able to order the new camera lens I've been wanting for quite a while. Its  the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens found here.

I'm really looking forward to getting this lens and practicing with it. 
 If you have this lens and have any tips on it, please feel free to pass them on.

♥ I'm loving that we are planning our summer vacation for this year already and have a place narrowed down. We plan to go to Gulf Shores for a week in August. We are going to rent a condo on the beach!! I can't wait. This will be Jackson's first vacation and I can't wait to see how he reacts to the sand and ocean. I just know he's going to have a blast.

 ♥ I'm loving that Easter is right around the corner. I hope that with Easter comes warmer weather. I am really ready for spring.

♥ I'm loving that Jackson has a few new tricks. He can say "argh" like a pirate and he does the arm movement along with it. Its too funny. He can also "bock" like a chicken and he does the arm movements along with it as well. He says shhh and holds his finger up to his mouth, and he jumps now too and says jump while doing it. He also tries to whistle with me when I whistle for the dogs to come in from outside. I just love watching him learn and do new things!
