Super Bowl Party

We decided to have a Super Bowl Party at our house this year and it was so much fun. We had a group of around 40 people, many being kids. It was a house-full but so much fun. Everyone brought their favorite appetizer and drink of choice, so we had a ton of food. It was all delicious and everyone had a great time. And bonus, the Eagles beat the Patriots! Yay! Not to mention Justin Timberlake performed at the half-time show!

The day before the party I had the kids help me make some brownies in the shape of footballs. They loved helping.

I also spent a majority of Saturday cleaning and decorating for the party!

Everyone had a great time!

Cutest KC Chiefs Fans Ever!

I've posted these pictures on Facebook and Instagram, but I figured I better post them here too. :-)

It's no secret that my husband is a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan! His family is from KC and he was actually born there as well. His mom moved him and his two brothers here to St. Louis when Jake was around 2 or 3. When it comes to sports, Jake's a loyal KC fan. He always roots for the Chiefs and for the Royals! Our whole "man cave" is decorated in Chiefs decor. So when the Chiefs played Monday night football this past Monday night, it was almost like the Super Bowl for Jake. He invited a few friends/family over to watch the game and we had a little party at our house.

So since I was off work Monday, I spent the day cleaning and getting ready for our company. I also thought I'd get the kids dressed up in their Chiefs-wear and take a few pictures of them in the back yard to frame for Jake's desk at work. :-)

Avery cooperated very well and hammed it up for the camera. Jackson on the other hand, did NOT want his picture taken. As usual, he hates stopping and sitting still to have his picture taken and Monday was no different. Thankfully my parents had come over early so that my dad could look at our air conditioner that had stopped working right, (Thankfully he was able to fix it... my Dad's the best!) so my mom helped me with the kids pictures and promised Jackson some gum if he sat and took the picture. ;-) Thankfully that eventually worked and I got a couple cute shots of him too. :-)

So without further adieu... here is a collection of the cutest KC Chiefs Fans Ever!!

And my favorite of them all...

She's starting to sit up for short periods of time by herself! It's so stinkin cute and she thinks she's big stuff. My mom was right there to catch her if need be, which she had to do a couple of times. :-)

Throw-back Thursday: KC Chiefs Football Edition

Welcome to another week of "Throw-back Thursday"!

Since football season is just getting started, I thought I'd share a few pictures of Jake and I at some of the Chiefs games we've been to in the last few years.

Let me start by saying, we live in St. Louis, however Jake was born in Kansas City and has family there so he was and always has been a Chiefs fan. He moved to St. Louis when he was 2, so he definitely grew up here and has really only known living in St. Louis, yet he's a Chiefs/Royals fan! Go figure.

For his 18th birthday (2003), I surprised him with a little party at my parent's house and invited some of our friends and family. I also surprised him with his first ever Kansas City Chiefs game tickets. He's been hooked ever since. I so wish we had a picture from that game, but unfortunately we don't.  It was a cold, late December, Sunday game. The last game of regular season. :-)

The next game we went to was in October, 2006 against the 49ers.

We also went to another game in 2006, when the Chiefs came to St. Louis to play the Rams. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from this game.

The following year we went to a pre-season game when the Chiefs came to the Rams stadium here in St. Louis.

And in November of that same year, (2007) we saw the Chiefs play again, but this game was in KC against the Broncos. BTW, it's a lot more fun to see them play in KC.

In 2010, we went to the Chiefs home opener in September!

In November of that same year, I surprised Jake with tickets to another game. I had some of his family in on the secret too and we tail-gated for the first time!

On top of these games, Jake's been to a few without me, including a play-off game in 2010 and most recently, a game he went to just last year with some of his family!

Next month, we're excited to be heading to Kansas City for another Chiefs home opener with the Stanfields! They are playing the Dallas Cowboys and our good friends Chris and Holly are Cowboys fans! It should be such a fun game since I grew up loving the Cowboys, (back when I had a huge crush on Troy Aikman)!

So now it's your turn. Do you have any fun football memories, or just a fun memory you'd like to share? Be sure and link up your Throw-back Thursday post here. I'd love to read about your fun memories.

Super Bowl Recipe Link-Up

I'm taking a break from Christmas pictures today, to share a link up with you all.

Jake and I have a Super Bowl Party every year and a bunch of friends and family come over for the big game. Everyone brings a dish or dessert and we all have a great time together.

So to get us all in the "game day" spirit, I thought it would be fun if we all shared our favorite "game day" dish or dessert. I thought it would be a great way to get some ideas for the upcoming Super Bowl next month.

Just blog about your favorite Super Bowl recipe and then link back here when you're done. I'll leave the link party up til the end of this week.

Here's the recipe I'm sharing today:

Sweet Bacon Crackers:

Ingredients Needed:

1 (16 ounce) package of buttery round crackers
1 pound sliced bacon, cut into thirds
1 pound brown sugar

*Original recipe makes 30 servings*

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
  2. Arrange the crackers in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Top each cracker with 1/3 slice bacon, and sprinkle desired amount of brown sugar over all.
  3. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until browned and crisp. Serve warm.

*Here is my Link-Up button. Just copy the code below the picture and add it to your post.

Thanks again and I can't wait to read all of your yummy recipes!! :-)

I'm Told I Love Football!

I saw this on Pinterest a couple weeks ago and thought it was so fitting for Jackson. He needs this shirt for sure.

As I mentioned in this previous post, my husband is a die hard football fan! I mean really die hard. So everytime I see something football related for Jackson, its a must have. Here are a few examples from this past year. ☺ For Jake's sake, I really hope Jackson grows up to love football, LOL.

A photo we took for his newborn shoot! My mom made him the little hat and diaper cover.

Football binky!

Jackson wearing his first little Chiefs jersey!

Jackson wearing a shirt that says, "If the Chiefs are playing, I'm not napping".

This is what Jackson does when we say "Touchdown". He will also throw a ball down if he has one in his hands. Then he claps and says Yay! Ha!

Over the weekend I found this super cute winter hat. It came with little mittens too. ☺ Jackson needed a winter hat so when I saw this one, I just had to buy it for him. He looks so cute in it.

This coming weekend, we are going to Jake's aunt and uncle's house for an early Thanksgiving celebration with Jake's mom's family. We do this every year and switch off between going to Kansas City and them coming to St. Louis. This year we'll be in KC, and Sunday everyone is going to the Chiefs game. Jackson and I opted out of going to the game because he's still so little and I wasn't sure how the weather would be, (Arrowhead is an outdoor stadium) They will be tailgating before the game though, so weather permitting, Jackson and I will be tailgating with everyone and then going somewhere kid friendly in KC. (If you have any suggestions, let me know.) So this will be Jackson's first time at/outside of Arrowhead Stadium. His cute little football hat will come in handy. I will be sure to post pictures next week. ☺

Football Season... Ugh!

I'm pretty sure I need this sign for my house! Ha.

The dreaded football season has begun. My husband eats, sleeps and breaths football from the months of August to February. Wait, who am I kidding, its really all year round. It just gets taken up about 100 notches during football season.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to a good football game every now and again. But jeez!

- We have to pay extra for NFL Sunday ticket during football season because we don't live in the city where Jake's team plays. I've mentioned before that he's a Kansas City Chiefs fan, however, we live in St. Louis. So they usually don't televise the Chiefs games here because they show the Rams games.

- He's also into fantasy football. So not only does he watch it on t.v., he also spends hours on the computer planning out his fantasy teams. He's involved in 3 fantasy leagues this year! I guess one wasn't enough. The other night he spent the entire evening on the computer because of one of his league drafts!!

- Then there's the Sunday afternoon games where I don't see him the whole day! And God forbid the Chiefs lose a game. Ha. I really need to video him one day while he's watching football. I've never seen someone get so excited! You always know if its a good game in our house because you can hear him from downstairs screaming and going crazy. On the flip side, you know its a bad game when you hear silence. LOL.

- And if all that isn't bad enough, guess what I fall asleep to most evenings?... Sports Center. Or some sort of sports show where we have to watch high lights or predictions of what the team will do the next game. So boring!!

I love my husband. He works hard, is a wonderful father and helps out around the house, so I don't get too upset about any of this, but I just wonder how many of you other wives go through this every football season?? Please tell me I'm not the only one. ☺
