Storybook Photography - Millie's One Year Farm Session

Two weekends ago, I had my first repeat session. I met this little cutie when she was just a baby and I was delighted when her mom called and wanted me to take her 1 year pictures. :-) Little Millie is absolutely adorable and we had the PERFECT backdrop... her Grandmother's farm. It was SO much fun. A photographers dream really. An adorable toddler + a perfect farm location + a beautiful summer evening = gorgeous photos. Definitely one of my favorite sessions to date.

A sucker gets a smile every time. :-)

This old blue truck just happened to be on the property and my heart skipped a beat when I saw it. I just LOVE it!!

A Storybook Photography Photo Session - Landon's Back to School Pictures

My nephew Landon started second grade today! Crazy how that just happened over night! Ha. Last year, my sister found this great old desk at a thrift store and we took Landon's back to school pictures with it. You can see them here. So we decided to try it again this year! They turned out really cute and we had fun taking them. :-)

Favorite Photo Friday

I haven't shared a favorite photo in a while, so I thought I'd share this one! I love this photo that I took last night of the kids playing together on the play mat. It used to be Jackson's, and now Avery is at a good age to use it. Of course, Jackson wants to do everything Avery is doing, so he had to lay down there with her. ♥  He even wants us to do to him, whatever we do to Avery. (For example, last night I was taking Avery's weekly photo on a piece of fabric, so Jackson got a blanket, layed down on it and wanted me to take a picture of him too. Ha! He even wanted me to use the little stuffed animal I was using to get Avery's attention. Too funny.)

So here is a quick picture that I'm loving because I love that my kiddos are happily playing together, something that I hope will happen more and more as Avery gets older!

Avery's 3 Month Photos

This past Saturday, my sister and I took her oldest son, Landon and my sweet Avery up to our church grounds to take some photos of them. Landon starts the second grade this year and Ashlee wanted some "Back to School" pictures of him and I needed to get Avery's 3 month pictures taken.

Our church sits on around 7 acres of land with woods on one side. This makes for a nice backdrop without any worry of people getting in your shot.

Avery was not in the best of moods that evening. I had planned on a couple different outfit changes and a few other ideas, but she just wasn't having it and we were running out of daylight. So I may have to try again soon. I'm really happy with the photos we did get that evening though. They are simple and adorable and capture her well at 3 months. :-)

I love this one because it shows you right where she's at right now... always trying to eat her hands. :-)

*Photo credit to my sister, who took the pictures of Avery and I together. Thanks Ashlee!*

Friday Five

Our week in review. :-)

One

First and foremost, Jackson has been doing so well potty-training this week! I will write a post about it once we feel he's actually potty-trained, but he's off to a great start and I couldn't be more proud of him!
A picture of him with all of his Disney "Cars" cars. We are collecting them and it's so much fun!

Two

A fun, dolphin and heart grilled cheese I made for Jackson Sunday night. I've had this sandwich cutter for a long time, but had never used it before. I remembered I had it so that night I decided to make dinner a little more fun for Jackson. :-) He ate it right up. I might have to find a few different ones for us to try.

Three

Our kitchen sink has been slow draining for probably about a year or more now. My dad has snaked it several times and that would help for a little while, but it would just get stopped up again and we couldn't figure out why. We had to have someone else come out with a bigger tool to snake it and he said that one of the pipes under our house had probably broken and the water from the sink and dishwasher were going under our house and mud was filling up the pipe. :-( Not what you want to hear as this was going to cost some major money to be fixed. So when we had my dad put a bathroom in our basement, he thought he fixed the problem by replacing some of the pipe from the kitchen sink to our basement. This helped for about 4 months and then it started to drain VERY slow again. It got so bad that we couldn't even use the dishwasher or run water in the sink without it backing up. So for the last month I've had to wash our dishes by hand in a big bowl and empty the water in the bathroom. Ugh, so not fun! My dad finally got a break in work to come fix our broken pipe and I can't thank him enough since having someone else do it would have cost us a small fortune!! It was a mess, but I'm so happy to have it fixed. I can finally wash dishes in the dishwasher now and rinse dishes in the sink. You really don't realize how much you take something for granted til it's gone.
(Here's what it looked like after my dad had busted up all the concrete in the unfinished part of our basement and replaced the old broken pipe with new pipe! Yay!)

Four

Wednesday, Jackson didn't get a nap. Usually when he doesn't get a nap, he's asleep by 7 or so. But that evening my dad had been there fixing the broken pipe and then I took the kids for a walk, so we had a late dinner. While Jackson was eating dinner, I was finishing up sweeping the floor. So when I was done, I went over to get a plate for my dinner when I saw him dosing off at the dinner table. By the time I sat down, he was out! Now that's what I call tired!

Five

And finally, Tuesday evening I got a text from my Aunt Karla saying my cousin had asked his girlfriend of 5 years to marry him and she said yes! I couldn't be more happy and excited for them!
(A photo I have of them from a couple years ago.)
