Mother/Son Dance 2019

This past Friday evening was the annual Mother/Son Dance at Jackson's school. This was our second year to go and we had so much fun together. We had dinner, did some dancing, took a few pictures, did a craft and then did a little more dancing. Afterwards, a few of us moms took the boys out for ice-cream at Cold Stone which was also fun! I just love having one-on-one time with each of my kiddos. Jackson and I had a really fun evening.

Five on Friday

Happy Friday

One
This past Monday was President's Day and the kids and I were both off that day. So I set up a little play-date at my Sister's house so that the kids could all play together that day. Now that Jackson is in school full time and so are Ashlee's older 2 kids, they don't get to see each other all that often. My mom goes over there during the day sometimes and takes Avery with her, but Jackson, Landon and Mason are all at school. So I thought it would be the perfect day to get them together. I brought over some Little Caesar's Pizza and they played from around noon until around 5:30. The kids had a great time playing together and my sister and I had a nice time catching up.

Avery is obsessed with wearing dresses right now. She loves wearing her princess dresses at home, but has even taken it a step further this week and only wants to wear dresses at all times. Thankfully, it's not just princess dresses, but any kind of dress. She even wore a dress to bed the other night! Ha! She woke up that next morning and before coming out of her room she put her black sparkly flats on and a headband, so she was ready to go for the day! LOL. She's too funny. Here she is from last week wearing her Elsa dress, hat and shoes.

Tonight Jackson and I are going to the Mother/Son Dance at his school. We went last year and had a great time!! I always look forward to spending one on one time with each of my kids. I'll post all about it next week!

Have a great weekend!

Valentines Day 2019

We had a great Valentines Day this year.

You can find Jackson's shirt here, and Avery's dress here.

We started it off with Avery's Valentines Day party at Dance Class on Tuesday, 2/12. She was able to bring Valentines treats for everyone so she brought Princess suckers and Valentines day cards for her class. She was so excited.

Then, Avery had her Valentines Day Party at school on 2/13. She had LOL Surprise Doll Valentines to pass out and she had a Mermaid Valentines Day box. So cute!

Jackson had his Valentines Day party at school on 2/14 and he passed out Jurassic World Valentines and he had a Rocket Ship Valentines Day box! Also, very cute!

The weather on Valentines Day was beautiful and around 60 degrees, so the kids played outside with the neighbors for a little while when we got home and my mom made a very yummy post roast for dinner!

Saturday afternoon Jake and I dropped the kids off at Grandma's house and he and I went to see a movie and to dinner and then met up with some friends afterwards for drinks. It was a great night out. ♥

Sunday morning we had a Valentines Day breakfast at church and we all passed out treats for everyone! We started this tradition last year and it was so much fun that we did it again this year! To say we have an over-abundance of candy and sweets at our house would be an understatement! Ugh, not great for the diet. Ha.

So that's how we celebrated Valentines Day this year! It was great! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day as well. ♥

Pinewood Derby

Jackson had his first Pinewood Derby with the Boy Scouts earlier this month and it was so much fun. Jake and my Dad helped Jackson make the car. It had to be a Super Hero theme so Jackson picked Iron Man. My dad cut the car out and then spray-painted the car red. We added Iron Man stickers to give it the Super Hero theme and it turned out very cool.

Each Den races their cars against each other and then whoever wins 1st and 2nd place in each den has to race in the final heat at the end of the day. Jackson's car came in 2nd and 3rd in every race it ran, but ended up tying for 3rd place in the end. His race time overall was just slightly lower than the car he tied with so he came in 4th place in his den. He even won a trophy!

Happy Friday

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day. We just had dinner at home as a family, but will be celebrating with dinner out (just Jake and I) tomorrow night! The kids had fun at their school parties and I'll be posting on those next week. :-)
You can find Jackson's shirt here, and Avery's dress here.

I've been in the market for a new hair dryer for quite some time, but just didn't know which one to get. I ran across this blog post by Living in Yellow and was so excited to read their results. I ended up buying this one on their recommendation and because it was everything I was looking for. Plus it was on sale big-time! I just didn't think I could pass it up. Jake said it could be my Valentines Day gift. ;-)

Tuesday night, Jackson's basketball team went to watch the Lindbergh High School team play a game! It was so much fun for the boys to see how the bigger boys play on the big court.

Last Friday night, while Jake and Avery were at the Daddy/Daughter dance, Jackson and I went to dinner with my parents at MOD Pizza and to Baskin Robbins for Ice Cream. It was a fun night out with my favorite boy. ♥

Saturday morning I took the kids to their annual well-check up. They both did great but Avery had to get 2 shots for Kindergarten. I knew she'd have to get shots so I prepared her for that ahead of time. She said she'd be brave, but as she was sitting there and the nurse was getting her ready for the shots, Avery looked and me and said she was scared and started crying before she ever even got a shot. Poor thing. She cried with both, but sat there like a big girl and we went to Starbucks afterwards for a little treat. ;-) Later that afternoon, Jackson had a basketball game and Avery decided to wear her Rapunzel costume to the game along with her Wonder Woman crown. It was too cute so I had to snap a picture. She's been wearing this particular princess costume most days this week. I love it!

Have a great weekend!
