Wednesday Randoms

Here's a little random post for today. I hope you're all having a great week.

* Jackson came down with a cough last Saturday evening, and then Monday his nose started running. :-( Yesterday morning both symptoms seemed to be worsening so I left work early to take him to the Dr. He ended up testing positive for RSV. :-( The nurse said the test normally takes 15 minutes, but within a minute it was already showing positive. They made me leave through the back door because apparently RSV is extremely contagious. He had been acting normal, playing, eating and sleeping fine, but my Mom just called and said he woke up with a bit of a fever so it seems to be getting worse. :-(  The Dr. said it normally peeks at the 5th day, we're on day #4 today. Unfortunately, RSV is a virus and there is no medication or antibiotic they can prescribe for it. It just has to run its course. Thank goodness for Advil.

Jackson at the Dr. yesterday afternoon.

* What is going on with this weather? For the last two days its been in the 60's and 70's, which is very warm for this time of year in MO. There were thunderstorms and tornado watches yesterday afternoon and evening. Now today the temp. is supposed to drop into the 30's and the rain may quite possibly change to snow!  CRAZY! Its no wonder everyone is sick.

* This is what you get when you have 3 Labrador Retrievers living with you... a TON of shedding! I swept my floors Sunday evening and by Tuesday evening this was the pile of hair I swept up in our kitchen and hallway alone. How do these dogs have any hair left with all of the shedding they do?? Its a good thing I love them so much. ☺

*And to end this post on a happy note. I just hit 200 Followers!! Yay! Thanks so much to all of my followers. ☺

Project Life 2013 - Week 4

When I started going through my pictures from last week, I realized I took a TON. Ha! I was off work Monday for MLK Jr. Day and since that Monday was my regular every other Monday off, I was off Tuesday as well. So I had a lot more opportunity to get the camera out. ☺

I used the Enjoy the Everyday Full Kit Freebie from Mommyish.

A Storybook Photography Family Photo Session

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to photograph a sweet family. I work with Lindsay's mom and actually Lindsay worked in our office as well, for a couple of summers as an intern while she was going to Mizzou. She and her husband have an adorable six month old baby boy! I'm always a little nervous before these shoots, but it went really well. We had wonderful weather, which was a surprise for January. Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

Having SNOW Much Fun!

We haven't gotten much snow this Winter season, and what little snow we have gotten, we haven't had much time to play in it. However, this past Tuesday, I was off work and much to my surprise, (and I think everyone else's in St. Louis) it snowed! It wasn't much, probably not even an inch, but it was just enough to get a few minutes of playtime in with Jackson.

I was cleaning the house that morning when I looked out and saw that it was snowing, so I opened the blinds for Jackson to take a look.

While it snowed for a little while longer, I put Jackson down for a nap and got ready for a Dr. appt. I had later that day.

I rarely get any pictures of him napping, so I snuck a couple while he was sleeping.

After his nap, I bundled him up and took him outside for a few minutes to play in the snow. Needless to say, he loved it and didn't want to go back in. ☺

Project Life 2012 - Weeks 1-4

I decided since I was having so much fun with the digital scrapbook pages that I started for 2013, I'd go back and try to make a page for every week in 2012! A little bit of a challenge I know, but something I really want to do and have to look back on. 2012 was a great year and I would love to have an album to look back on all the memories made last year. So I thought I could just do two pages a week, one for this year and one for last year! And once I got started, I ended up finishing up the first 4 weeks of 2012! Four pages down, 48 more to go. ☺

So here are the pages I made. They are simple, but I think they turned out pretty cute.

Favorite Photo Friday

I'm linking up with Lisa today for Favorite Photo Friday, and sharing some bathtime pictures I took of Jackson a couple nights ago.

At Jackson's age, he's on the go a majority of the time. The few times he's somewhat still are when he's eating, sleeping or in the bathtub. So getting some pictures of him in the tub, seems to be a little easier for me these days because I know he can't run away! Ha. Here are a few I took the other night.

Jackson's 14 Month Post

Jackson turned 14 months old on Dec. 20th. I'm a little late on posting this, but with the Christmas holiday, I'm a little behind on posts and hopefully I'll be pretty well caught up after this. ☺

Jackson is still a pretty good eater. He's eats breakfast great and eats lunch and dinner pretty well too for the most part. He has his moments where he doesn't eat much, but he never goes hungry, believe me! He is still taking an afternoon and nighttime bottle of whole milk and then has milk, juice and water in his sippy cup throughout the day.  He loves apple sauce for a snack. He sometimes even says "mmmm" when he's eating it. ☺ He still loves most of the fruit and veggies that we give him, thank goodness.

I'm not exactly sure how much he weighs these days, but he has a 15 month check up that he'll go to this month, so I'll find out then.

He's saying a few more words, and making a few animal sounds. He can say turtle, tickle, hi and hello, kitty kitty, doggie, dadda and mama, sit and bath. If you ask him where Jackson is or where Mommy is, he can point to himself or point at me. He can say cock-a-doodle-do for a rooster, meow for a cat, he tries to snort like a pig and he says rawr like a lion. He dances to music, which is so adorable. He spins around and falls down if we sing ring around the rosie. He's able to get on and off the couch now by himself and he can climb up the little slide in the nursery at church and go down the slide by himself now. ☺

He now has 10 teeth. He just got his top first molars all the way through this month and is now working on his bottom first molars. He's been great through it all and hasn't complained one bit! Thank goodness.

He's still sleeping great. His bedtime is at around 8:30 and he usually sleeps until 7 or 8:30 the next morning. He generally has 1 good nap that lasts around 2-3 hours in the late morning or early afternoon.

So, that about sums up his 14 month post. He is at such a fun age right now. We are having so much fun with him and loving very minute of it.

Project Life 2013 - Weeks 1 and 2

I used to scrapbook ALL. THE. TIME! I have a cricut and used it constantly. This was all before having Jackson. ☺

Now I just don't have much free time to sit down and devote a couple of hours a night or even a week to scrapbooking. And if I'm being honest, I just don't have the desire anymore either. I do however want to have scrapbooks to look back on because I love taking photos and I want to have these photos in a memory book of some sort.

So when I stumbled upon Stephanie's blog and saw her "Project Life" digital scrapbook pages, I was impressed to say the least. Her pages are so clean and adorable. She does a page a week and I thought to myself, maybe this is a way I could actually scrapbook and get some pages done.

So I decided to start this in 2013 and give it a try. I scrapbooked these pages on my lunch hour, a little one day and a little the next. One page a week seems manageable. I used picmonkey.com's collage template and their fonts. I downloaded a few free digital scrapbooking supplies and made these 2 pages so far.

Week 2:
Week 1:

So I plan to do a page a week, documenting photos I've taken that week and activities we've done. I plan to show you all my pages as I make them. I also plan to have all my pages bound in a book using Mixbook.com at the end of the year. I actually already started making my book and added these 2 pages to it so its not so much work at the end of the year. ☺

Jackson's First Haircut

While I was on my Christmas break from work, I decided it was time to get Jackson's hair cut. It was super long in the back and very uneven. I was a little sad to get his hair cut, but surprisingly, there were no tears shed... by me or by Jackson. ☺ He did very well. He sat in the chair all by himself and watched a little girl that was there with her mommy. He did move his head around often, which I'm sure made our hairdressers job a little more difficult, but all in all he did great! He even got a certificate for his first hair cut and she kept a few pieces of his hair for me. ☺

Here are just a couple "before" pictures of his spiky, long hair!

And here he is during the haircut.

And of course, an "after" picture. He looked so cute after it was all cut. Believe it or not, its already grown out quite a bit since then!

Christmas 2012 - Part 4

My 4th and final post about our Christmas.

On Christmas afternoon/evening, we went over to my parents' house to exchange gifts between my parents, Jake, Jackson and I and my sister and her family. My Papa Reg also joined us this year. ☺

We have a tradition of cooking breakfast food for our Christmas meal, whenever it may be that we get together that year. We have bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy and sausage. I love this tradition!

Here are some pictures I took while we were opening gifts.

If Landon wasn't opening gifts or eating, he was doing this... playing his new DS that Santa brought him.

Jackson, very happy with all of his gifts!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! It was great to spend so much time with family!
