What I'm Loving "Thursday"

I missed What I'm Loving Wednesday, yesterday, so I thought I'd do a What I'm Loving Thursday post today instead. ☺

♥ I'm so excited today! I was able to order the new camera lens I've been wanting for quite a while. Its  the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens found here.

I'm really looking forward to getting this lens and practicing with it.
If you have this lens and have any tips on it, please feel free to pass them on.

♥ I'm loving that we are planning our summer vacation for this year already and have a place narrowed down. We plan to go to Gulf Shores for a week in August. We are going to rent a condo on the beach!! I can't wait. This will be Jackson's first vacation and I can't wait to see how he reacts to the sand and ocean. I just know he's going to have a blast.

♥ I'm loving that Easter is right around the corner. I hope that with Easter comes warmer weather. I am really ready for spring.

♥ I'm loving that Jackson has a few new tricks. He can say "argh" like a pirate and he does the arm movement along with it. Its too funny. He can also "bock" like a chicken and he does the arm movements along with it as well. He says shhh and holds his finger up to his mouth, and he jumps now too and says jump while doing it. He also tries to whistle with me when I whistle for the dogs to come in from outside. I just love watching him learn and do new things!

I hope you're all having a great Thursday!

Awww Love Gulf shores - and a pirate voice. Joke for you - How much does a pirate pay for earrings? A BUCCANEAR!!!!! LOL... that was Elle's halloween joke one year.

I LOVE that lens. It's what I take a lot of close ups of Drew with! All of the pictures on my puzzle post today were captured with that lens. It's such a great lens for such a great price! And you MUST get his 'argh' on video for us to see! :)

Ooooo I love the Gulf Coast!! I used to spend every summer there when my parents had a condo in Perdido Key, which is really close to Gulf Shores. I hope to start planning our first vacation with Rosen soon. We'll probably go to whatever beach is closest. Not looking forward to a road trip with a little one!
You're going to love that new lens too! 50mm is my fave for portraits. Gives you some really nice background blur.

The 50mm is my favorite portraiture lens for sure since it gives gorgeous depth of field.

My only issues with it is that you need to BACK UP to get a good shot, so in cramped rooms, it is hard to use. Also, it is a little finicky with auto focus.

But beyond that, it's a thing of beauty. Especially if you have room to back up like outside!

Gulf Shores sounds amazing! Are your parents going?

I have that lens and love it, but I'm so useless with my camera, I still only use it on the portrait setting....I REALLY need to take some proper courses in photography! But even on the portrait setting, it's still fantastic!

I echo everything Shannon said. Don't get too close to your subject, backing up is better. Taking pictures wide open can be tricky, so stop up a few stops and you'll be good to go. My favorite portrait lens. It gives such dreamy bokeh...have a blast getting to play with it. Also check Pinterest for some 50mm tips and tricks!
