Jackson and His Harmonica!

Jackson got a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Instrument bundle for Christmas this past year. It had a drum, harmonica, recorder and several other little instruments in it. He really loves trying to play all of the instruments!

On Monday, after I was done taking his Valentines Day photos, he grabbed the harmonica out of the toy box and started trying to play it. He doesn't quite have the hang of it yet, but its fun watching him try. I got these photos then and I'm so glad I did. They are just too cute!

My Little Heart-Breaker!

This past Monday, I decided to make a little "XOXO" banner that I had seen here, and incorporate it into a little Valentines Day photo shoot with Jackson. He had just woke up from a nap, so he wasn't all that excited about getting his picture taken, but he eventually warmed up to the idea and I got quite a few really cute shots.

Project Life 2013 - Week 5

Here is my week 5 layout for 2013. ☺

MIA and Whats in a Name Link Up

Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. Jackson had RSV last week with a fever lasting 2 1/2 days. I took off work and we just napped a lot and cuddled on the couch. He looked so miserable. :-(

I also caught some sort of cold/sinus thing because I had a runny nose, really bad sore throat and just didn't feel good for a few days.

Thankfully we're both on the mend and I'm back to work today!!

Now onto the link-up.

Amanda over at My Very Own Modern Family, is doing a link up today asking us to explain why we gave our children the names we gave them.

Jackson Thomas has kind of a long explanation. Thomas was a name that I liked for a long time and was also my Great Grandfather's name. Jake liked it because his favorite Civil War General (Jake is very much into anything Civil War) was Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. We often tossed around the idea of naming our first son Thomas, but I was always afraid people would call him Tom, and I didn't want that. I had also heard the name Jackson being used a little more, a year or so before becoming pregnant, and I started to really like the name. I told Jake if we ever had a boy we should use that name somehow, maybe even name him Thomas Jackson after my Great Grandpa and after the Civil War General. We tossed that idea around, but I still worried about people calling him Tom. So one night on the way home, we were talking about baby names (before I was even pregnant) and I said what if we switched the names around and used Jackson Thomas, and he agreed that he liked it. So it just stuck and thats what we decided to use if we ever had a boy. We still loved it when we found out we were having a boy and I still love it today. It really fits Jackson.
So how did you come up with your children's names?? Be sure and link up with Amanda!

Wednesday Randoms

Here's a little random post for today. I hope you're all having a great week.

* Jackson came down with a cough last Saturday evening, and then Monday his nose started running. :-( Yesterday morning both symptoms seemed to be worsening so I left work early to take him to the Dr. He ended up testing positive for RSV. :-( The nurse said the test normally takes 15 minutes, but within a minute it was already showing positive. They made me leave through the back door because apparently RSV is extremely contagious. He had been acting normal, playing, eating and sleeping fine, but my Mom just called and said he woke up with a bit of a fever so it seems to be getting worse. :-(  The Dr. said it normally peeks at the 5th day, we're on day #4 today. Unfortunately, RSV is a virus and there is no medication or antibiotic they can prescribe for it. It just has to run its course. Thank goodness for Advil.

Jackson at the Dr. yesterday afternoon.

* What is going on with this weather? For the last two days its been in the 60's and 70's, which is very warm for this time of year in MO. There were thunderstorms and tornado watches yesterday afternoon and evening. Now today the temp. is supposed to drop into the 30's and the rain may quite possibly change to snow!  CRAZY! Its no wonder everyone is sick.

* This is what you get when you have 3 Labrador Retrievers living with you... a TON of shedding! I swept my floors Sunday evening and by Tuesday evening this was the pile of hair I swept up in our kitchen and hallway alone. How do these dogs have any hair left with all of the shedding they do?? Its a good thing I love them so much. ☺

*And to end this post on a happy note. I just hit 200 Followers!! Yay! Thanks so much to all of my followers. ☺

Project Life 2013 - Week 4

When I started going through my pictures from last week, I realized I took a TON. Ha! I was off work Monday for MLK Jr. Day and since that Monday was my regular every other Monday off, I was off Tuesday as well. So I had a lot more opportunity to get the camera out. ☺

I used the Enjoy the Everyday Full Kit Freebie from Mommyish.
